Then there were two. ESL One

The matches for the third round of ESL One Germany 2020 are finally over. That means two Dota 2 teams now have 3-0 standings. The first is Team Secret, which is not much of a surprise. The second team is Alliance, showing that they can go toe-to-toe with the best in the region. With their respective wins, the two teams are going to face each other to see who’s going to be on top.

Team Secret vs Team Liquid

In the first game, it was pretty much all Secret. While Liquid did what it could, Secret’s Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen on Drow Ranger was clearly a beast, ending with 21 kills. To put that into context, Liquid only had a total of 20 team kills.

In the second game, Liquid appeared to have found an answer against MATUMBAMAN’s Drow Ranger. However, it was Secret’s Michał "Nisha" Jankowski on Kunkka who stepped up and carried Secret to the win.

Alliance vs OG

In their first game, OG’s Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng showed just how he fit in with the team as he dominated the match on Phantom Assassin. OG eventually got the win. In the second game, MidOne and Topias Miikka "Topson" Taavitsainen, both from OG, had excellent performances. However, it wasn't enough to beat out Alliance’s Nikolay "Nikobaby" Nikolov on Morphling as he carried his team to victory to tie the series.

In the third game, it was again Nikobaby, this time on Faceless Void, who had a strong performance. Helping him was Gustav "s4" Magnusson. Long-time fans of the esports scene should know that s4 was formerly with OG before leaving for Evil Geniuses.

Other Matches

For Round 3, Natus Vincere got a win against Winstrike to improve their standing to 2-1, along with OG and Liquid. Other teams that have joined the 2-1 standing are mudgolems, 5men, and Yellow Submarine.

So far after three rounds, EXTREMUM and Tempo Esports are still winless. This eliminates them from the tournament.

Round 4

Here are the matches for Round 4:

  • October 17
    • Ninjas in Pyjamas vs HellRaisers
    • Team Nigma vs Winstrike
    • OG vs Yellow Submarine
