Limited Run Games announced yesterday that it is offering limited physical copies of the Doom 64 re-release for Nintendo and PlayStation 4.

The digital version of Doom 64 launched earlier this year with a brand new chapter not available in the original release. The physical version of Doom 64 comes in two variants – a Standard Edition and a Classic Edition for both Nintendo Switch and PS4. Both editions will feature extra bonuses, including a special homage to the N64.

The Classic Edition, however, will include the classic N64 cartridge. The cartridge only serves a commemoration purpose and will not be functional, although it will look exactly identical to an original Doom 64 cartridge. Additionally, the Classic Edition of the game will also come with a double-sided 18"x24" poster featuring the classic enemies of Doom 64 and a special booklet containing behind-the-scene interviews. All of it, including the game, will be encased in a Classic Edition Retro Box.

Earlier this year, Doom 1 and 2 received an update on Nintendo Switch and PS4, enabling native widescreen and fully functioning gyro aiming in both games. Gyro aiming not only helped players to precisely aim at targets but also control the camera separately while navigating or engaging in combat.

On a similar note, Id Software is also working on a new The Ancients Gods standalone DLC for Doom Eternal, which is scheduled to release on October 20. Doom Eternal is the latest entry in the Doom franchise and it takes the Slayer on a quest to save humanity from the demons of hell. The upcoming DLC is split into two parts and it will be the first paid DLC for the game, which has received several free DLC releases and updates after launching.

Doom 64 physical copies will be available for pre-order starting on September 25 for Nintendo Switch and PS4.
