Fans of The Division series have a reason to rejoice with the announcement of a brand new game joining the franchise. Dubbed as Heartland, the game is going to be free-to-play. It’s scheduled to be released sometime between 2021 and 2021 and will be available on PC and consoles.

While Heartland is set within The Division universe, it’s a standalone game. That means it’s also a good entry point even for those who haven’t played any of the games in the franchise. Overall, this latest offering hopes to give a new look into the universe along with a new setting.

Ubisoft EMEA Executive Director Alain Corre shared that this new game is being developed by the company’s Red Storm studio. That’s not the only big news announced though. It turns out, Ubisoft will do what most video game companies have been doing lately - to release The Divisio n on mobile platforms. Through this version, Corre said that they hope to introduce the universe to a wider audience. Additional information on this project is to be released at a later date.

The Division 2

Corre also teased that new content is dropping soon for The Division 2. For this one, players can expect a new game mode. There are new methods that players can use to level up their agents, which are focused on build variety as well as viability. This one is scheduled to be launched in late 2021 and more information will be revealed sometime later.

Other Media

It won’t be a complete update without news for the upcoming The Division movie. This Netflix exclusive film stars Jessica Chastain (The Martian, Zero Dark Thirty) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, Spider-Man: Far From Home).

Initially, Stephen Gaghan was supposed to direct the film but was later replaced by David Leitch. Leitch, however, had to leave as well due to scheduling conflicts yet remains part of the film as a producer. The film is now being directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (We’re the Millers, Central Intelligence).

Corre went on to say that they’re also an original novel coming out. Set after the events of The Division, it takes a closer look at how the Outbreak affected the other regions in the US.
