Diablo III: What is the Best Build for Barbarian in Season 28?

Barbarian Class Blizzard

If you're planning to play the Barbarian in Diablo III soon, you're probably wondering what's the best build for this class in Season 28. I'll give you a hint: it uses the ever-trusty Whirlwind - one of the most popular skills in the Barbarian's kit. But how exactly can you build this character? Read further to learn more.

Best Barbarian Build in Season 28

First of all, equipment in Diablo III can make or break builds. That's why heavy emphasis is placed on items that you plan to equip on your character.

That said, the best build for the Barbarian in Season 28 uses the Wrath of the Wastes set, mainly because of the following set bonuses:

  • Rend duration is increased to 15 seconds, and damage per second by 500% (2 pieces).
  • The Barbarian takes 50% reduced damage and deals triple damage with (already applied) Rend while channeling Whirlwind and 3 seconds afterwards (4 pieces).
  • Whirlwind gains the effect of the Dust Devils rune and all Whirlwind and Rend damage is increased by 10,000% (6 pieces).

As you can see, this build utilizes two main abilities - Rend and Whirlwind - for incredible damage. But you don't have to cast both skills manually because you have Ambo's Pridefor that. What this legendary mighty weapon does is it applies Rend to enemies hit by Whirlwind. So, just keep "Whirlwind-ing" your way across the map and enemies will suffer from Rend as you move along.

Here are the skills that you should put on your active skill bar:

SkillRune
RendBloodbath
SprintMarathon
Ignore PainBravado
Wrath of the BerserkerInsanity
Furious ChargeMerciless Assault
WhirlwindWind Shear

Since you can only equip four passive skills at a time, you have a couple of options to choose from. You can use Rampage, Boon of Bul-Kathos, Brawler, and Ruthless if you want to go pure offense. If you're pushing for higher Greater Rifts, you can swap Brawer with Nerves of Steel so that you won't get killed instantly.

So, how exactly do you play this build? You use Furious Charge to zoom through the map and then Whirlwind on any enemy you come across. If the going gets tough, pop Ignore Pain to reduce the damage you take by 50%. Ignore pain can also be used to increase your movement speed thanks to its Bravado rune.

While the cooldown of Furious Charge is reduced by two seconds for every enemy you hit due to the Merciless Assault rune, you are still going to experience some downtime, especially if mob density is pretty low. If this happens, you can use Sprint to continue moving at a rapid pace.

Here are the items that you need to equip on your Barbarian to make things happen:
