Diablo III has released Patch 2.6.6 which introduces a buff for Season 18, the Season of the Triune. This patch also brings changes to a number of items.

The update adds Triune's Will, where all abilities have a chance when hitting an enemy to spawn a circle that gives a power. However only one circle can be active at a time. These are:

  • Triune of Love (Power)
    • Players in the circle receive a 100% damage bonus while active
  • Triune of Determination (Resource Reduction)
    • Players in the circle receive a 50% discount on resources spent while active
  • Triune of Creation (Cooldown Reduction)
    • While standing in an active circle, any skills currently on cooldown come off of cooldown more quickly

According to the development team, the buffs over the last couple of Seasons have mainly been focused on end-game content. For this new season, the team wanted to try something different. Particularly, they wanted to give a buff that would benefit players regardless of where they are in their Season Journey. In this case, Triune's Will comes into play as early as Level 1 and impacts the game experience from the start of the Season to the end. The development team also added that during the PTR period, the team received feedback from the players regarding colorblind accessibility. To address this concern, the blue-tinted circles were changed to a darker, green earth tone, in order to stand out a lot more.

In terms of item changes for Patch 2.6.6., the development team wanted to introduce new item powers aimed at these two groups:

  1. Certain classes with long-standing requests for balance/quality of life adjustments and
  2. The broader player base for experimenting with Kanai's Cube.

What this means is that while it resulted in fewer class-specific new additions, there are going to be more additions where everyone has an opportunity to play. The team also experimented with making some of the craftable sets from Haedrig more appealing for fresh level 70's or players looking to maximize their farming runs.

Flavor of Time now has a new legendary power where the Pylon effects last twice as long. However, only wearers of this item gain this effect. The Executioner also gets a new legendary power where attacks slay enemies with less than (5-10%) health. The effect doesn't work on followers.

For Crafted Sets, some of the sets have been significantly revised from their existing level 70 counterparts. For items crafted before Patch 2.6.6, they continue to exist in their old forms, but are not going to be updated after the patch. After the patch, the old recipes are going to be no longer available to craft and all players need to re-acquire these recipes by finding the plans again through Horadric Caches or by killing Odious Collectors.
