Season 18 of Diablo III is set to launch on August 23. Dubbed the Season of the Triune, new cosmetic rewards are offered with players getting the chance to complete new conquests. New journey rewards are also being offered.

Theme

The theme of the season serves as a call-back to the ancient cult that was forged more than three millennia ago by the Prime Evils of the Burning Hells. It was during this time when the three Prime Evils masqueraded as the three deities dedicated to Creation, Determination, and Love. The Prime Evils had planned to infiltrate the hearts of men in the hopes of turning the balance in their favor in the ongoing Eternal Conflict. Fortunately, they were all defeated during the Sin War by Uldyssian. However, remnants of the Cult of the Triune are still present and are now known as the Coven.

Buff

For the duration of the new season, Players benefit from the Power of Triune buff. This buff periodically summons circles around the battlefield and gives one of three random buffs:

  • Triune of Love (Power)
    • Players in the circle receive a 100% damage bonus while active
  • Triune of Determination (Resource Reduction)
    • Players in the circle receive a 50% discount on resources spent while active
  • Triune of Creation (Cooldown Reduction)
  • While standing in an active circle, any skills currently on cooldown come off of cooldown more quickly

Even more interesting is that something different is happening in Season 18. The buff changes the gameplay the moment you start your journey. This means the buff is in play beginning at level 1 and up to level 70. Players now have a reason to move around the battlefield in order to be able to fully utilize these buffs.

Back in Season 17, Blizzard re-introduced previous Seasonal rewards. The goal was to give players the chance to get them if they missed them the first time around. For the new season, awards that were originally available from Season 6 makes a return to the Season Journey.

Cosmetic Rewards include the Chest and Gloves slot of the exclusive Conqueror Set. You can even earn a series of portrait frames decorated with the Blood Shards. The All Hallow’s pennant is also available.

Haedrig’s Gift

Since this is a new season, it goes without saying that you can expect Haedrig’s Gift. When you complete certain chapters in the Season Journey, you get rewarded with Class Sets. If you’re not familiar with how this works, don’t worry as we give you an idea how.

When you complete Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey, you get three of Haedrig’s Gift. Each gift you receive contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. You are allowed to unlock one Class Set in this way per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so make sure you choose wisely.

The set you get depends on the class of the character that you are playing when you open the gift. In order to get the full Class Set, you have to open all three on the same character.
