Destiny 2: Hotfix Balances Glaives and the Firmly Planted Perk

Destiny 2 Bungie

It seems that glaive users will be happy with the latest update for Destiny 2. That’s because Hotfix provides some key changes to glaives and the Firmly Planted perk.

The glaive is a new weapon type introduced in The Witch Queen expansion that does a few things. If you think this weapon is only meant for close range, that’s not the case. You see, this weapon shines when you use its projectile because it not only damages opponents but each successful hit charges the special block gauge as well.

Glaives are capable of blocking most attacks. In fact, they can even protect you from certain Supers, such as the Titan’s hammer and the Hunter’s Golden Gun. That said, glaives can now reach full charge after landing four successful projectile hits, so you can use block more often and with fewer hits required.

In addition, Hotfix reduces the effectiveness of the Firmly Planted perk by 50%. This perk increases weapon stability, accuracy, and handling when firing while crouched. Fortunately, the reduction only affects fusion rifles, so this perk is still pretty good when using other weapons that have it.

Patch Notes

The Wellspring: Attack
  • Fixed an issue where players were able to avoid being pulled into the boss arena during an encounter when pressed up against Hive shield barriers
  • Fixed an issue where players that joined the activity late would prevent activity barriers from spawning, blocking further Wellspring progression
  • Fixed an issue where Wizards and carried objects could be pushed to sink through the middle pillar, soft-locking the instance
PsiOps Battlegrounds
  • Fixed an issue in the Cosmodrome that blocked players from picking up Captured Light, blocking further progression
Trials of Osiris
  • Fixed an issue where Trials of Osiris Mementos were not dropping when players claimed their first Flawless chest of the week
  • Fixed an issue where combatants would remain stun-locked indefinitely when hit with a Glaive melee
  • Suppressing Glaive now consumes (and requires) 10% weapon energy when applying suppression with the Glaive melee
  • Child of the Old Gods is now more likely to reach its intended target, no longer bouncing off its directed path
