Destiny 2 developer Bungie has recently announced the retirement of the Forsaken DLC campaign. It will be put into the Destiny Content Vault (DCV) once the next expansion launches early next year. While there are benefits to vaulting older content, the majority of the fans are not okay with this.

For those who are not familiar with the situation, Bungie has started putting some of the old content into the DCV in late 2020. There are various reasons why they’ve done so. Part of it is to improve overall game performance and give them adequate time to iron out any issues that may arise.

That said, the fans of the game went to Reddit to express their frustration about the proposed move.

Fans Are Not Okay with This

Redditor @Flexpickup said that they are not a fan of the move simply because players have spent money to buy the expansion. They continued that if Bungie really wanted to improve game performance, they could follow in the footsteps of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and just allow players to select the content they want to install.

Another Redditor said that they are not a fan of vaulting old content at all, and another one chimed in that all this does is devalue the game and reinforces the notion of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

Redditor @MozzyZ said that it is a shame that Bungie is doing this because they really love the game for what it has to offer, except for the fact that the company cannot find a suitable solution to deal with the game’s ever-increasing file size.

On the flip side, some people have no problem with the company’s decision. Redditor @Freakindon opined that while it sucks that content will be removed, it does help Destiny 2 in so many ways, especially in engine optimization and drastic improvement in the game size.

Bungie did say that those who have purchased Forsaken will be getting three Ciphers that they can exchange for Exotics introduced in the DLC. This is also the company’s way of saying that the fans are not duped as they are still getting something in return.

After knowing the fate of Forsaken, what is your reaction to this proposed move by Bungie?
