Deathloop Delayed Again with New Release Date September 14

Need to wait a little longer,
Need to wait a little longer, Bethesda

There’s been quite the excitement when Deathloop was first announced. It was originally scheduled to be released at the end of 2020 but was later moved to 2021, specifically on May 21. Unfortunately, excited and eager fans must wait a little bit longer as it has been delayed yet again to September 14.

In a post, the team working on Deathloop said they are holding the release to offer a player experience that is mind-bending, stylish, and of course, fun. The team added that they remain committed to ensuring the quality of the game but also needed to look into the safety and health of everyone at Arkane Studios.

The team continued that they apologize for making everyone wait a little longer and thank everyone for their passion.

Deathloop was first unveiled during E3 2019 and later showcased during the June 2020 PlayStation 5 event.

The game has players take on the role of Colt, an assassin who wakes up one day on a beach at Blackreef island. He then figures out that he appears to be stuck inside a time loop. To get out of this loop, Colt needs to take out eight targets before midnight.

The game has been compared to The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, which also uses a time loop as a game mechanic. But the problem in the Zelda game is that the time loop runs in real-time and has been said to give players anxiety. That won’t be happening in Deathloop since it gives players more freedom in taking out the targets.

While it’s indeed sad to learn the game has been delayed, it means there’s still time to preorder it. It’s offered in Standard and Deluxe Editions, with the latter having these:

  • Base Game
  • Unique Weapon: Transtar Trencher (PS5 Exclusive)
  • Unique Weapon: Eat The Rich Tribunal
  • Unique Weapon: .44 Karat Fourpounder
  • Character Skin: "Party Crasher" Colt
  • Character Skin: "Sharp Shooter" Julianna
  • Original Game Soundtrack Selections
  • Two Trinkets (equippable buffs)

Those who preorder the game also receive these freebies:

  • Unique Weapon: Royal Protector Machete (PS5 Exclusive)
  • Unique Character Skin: "Storm Rider" Colt
  • One Trinket (equippable buff)

So what do you think? Willing to wait?
