The Dark Knight Returns to Rocket League for Haunted Hallows

Nightfall has arrived in Gotham and it also marks the start of the annual Haunted Hallows event for Rocket League. As expected, the Rogues Gallery is preparing to introduce some mischief and mayhem. The good news is that the Dark Knight himself is back to restore order.

This year, players get to experience a rather long Halloween with the Haunted Hallows Event Challenges. Completing these challenges allows players to unlock items themed after iconic Batman super-villains. These include the likes of the Joker Dominus Decal and Boost, Harley Quinn Wheels and Topper, and Poison Ivy Boost.

Rumble and Arena

Batman and his Rogues Gallery are also taking over Rumble and turning it into the Gotham City Rumble. While the gameplay is the same as your typical Rumble, the difference is the power-ups are themed after Batman and his enemies. Instead of Grappling Hook, for example, players can use Poison Ivy’s vines. Another is instead of the Boot, there’s Harley’s Hammer.

In this year’s event, there’s also a new Arena variant with the Beckwith Park (Gotham Night). For some reason, Gotham’s super-villains have infiltrated this park. That said, be sure to keep an eye out for nods and Easter eggs scattered all around this new Arena.

Ride with the Bat

This being Rocket League, it’s not a stretch to expect the Batmobile. The good news is that three versions are arriving in the game, available at the Item Shop. Players can get all of them through the Batman Halloween Bundle, which is priced at 2,000 Credits. The bundle includes:

  • Batmobile (1989)
    • Reel Life Decal
  • The Dark Knight's Tumbler
    • Reel Life Decal
  • Batmobile (2016)
    • Reel Life Decal
  • Batman 1989 Goal Explosion
  • The Dark Knight Goal Explosion
  • Batman 2016 Goal Explosion

Patch v2.06

Early this week, Rocket League released a patch that introduced new ball controls in Free Play. Players can now control the ball in five different ways with just the push of a button. These are:

  • Take Possession: Places the ball in front of your car
  • Start Dribble: Places the ball on the hood of your car
  • Pass Ball: Sends the ball toward your car
  • Launch Ball: Behaves similarly to tip-off in Hoops

See what other changes arrived with the patch here.

Rocket League is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
