CD Projekt Red confirms that Cyberpunk 2077 will NOT be a store exclusive. CD Projekt Red

To the relief of many in the gaming community, acclaimed developer CD Projekt Red has just confirmed that its upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 will not be sold exclusively on the Epic Store.

Marcin Mormot, who is the Community Lead at CD Projekt Red, tweeted earlier today that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be an Epic Store exclusive. In fact, the esteemed developer went a step further and said that CD Projekt Red's goal is to make the game "available to as many gamers as possible on their platform of choice." The community’s response: overwhelmingly positive.

In light of the growing number of upcoming titles that are set to be exclusive to the Epic Games Store, gaming fans around the world are becoming weary. Highly-anticipated video game releases such as Metro Exodus, The Outer Worlds, Control, and more, have recently signed exclusive rights agreements with the Epic Store. With popular upcoming titles now locked behind the Epic Games Store, many fans have begun to lash out against Epic. Even the developers of these games have received some form of public backlash, especially certain titles that have already sold console editions on pre-order. Thankfully, CD Projekt Red once again comes through for the gaming community with its confirmation and promise of Cyberpunk 2077’s availability on all major platforms.

CD Projekt Red is one of the most well-loved game development companies in the world, and has received applause and accolades for going against certain anti-consumer trends in the gaming industry. With free DLCs and on-going content releases, beautifully-engineered game worlds and mechanics, and a true passion for gaming, CD Projekt Red has set the bar for what a video game company should be and what they should represent. Cyberpunk 2077 is CD Projekt Red’s latest upcoming title, set for release some time in the next few years.

What do you think of CD Projekt Red and its move to keep Cyberpunk 2077 open to as many gaming platforms as possible? What’s your take on the Epic Store’s grab for exclusive deals like what happened with Metro Exodus, and more recently, Obsidian's The Outer Worlds?
