As reported by The Washington Post, Creative Director Guillaume Broche thanked the fans who made Expedition 33 a success. To thank fans for sticking with them, he said that the upcoming update will be a "thank you" gift. He urged all players to bear with them as their team prepares for "something worth the wait."

While Sandfall wouldn't announce a specific launch date, the crew did state the future update is aimed at improving replayability as well as offering richer storytelling through new regions and encounters.

What to Expect from the 'Expedition 33' Free Update

The update adds a completely new playable environment that will lead players into an as-yet unexplored region with new types of enemies, secrets, and late-game content. Highlights include new dungeons of concealed lore and formidable enemies. There are also boss battles for experienced players who want harder combat battles.

Apart from that, Sandfall will feature character customization that will help you personalize your characters. To increase localization, seven new languages will be added for support, including Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian.

Sandfall said that there are easter eggs, but the content will remain undisclosed, per Polygon. This will be the best experience to reward fans who continue exploring.

A Tease of What's to Come in the Story

Although Sandfall didn't spill any concrete plot points, the teaser image released with the announcement suggests a playroom environment for a child, complete with scribbles featuring Verso on the back of Esquie. Regular players might notice this as a probable reference to the duo's cryptic history, leaving fans wondering if the update would delve further into the backstory of Verso and Esquie.
