Changes Made to Missions in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

It's all about the missions Fatshark

A new update is now live in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide and not only introduces new content but also new content. One of the changes was done for Missions.

Beginning with this update, each mission now comes with a Martyr's Skull. This can be obtained by solving a challenge, which at time may need assistance from the other operatives. Those able to extract a Martyr's Skull successfully can obtain completion of a penance that's linked to that particular mission. Players also get a small bonus for Plasteel for the first time that they complete a challenge successfully. They also get the same bonus after helping another player who hasn't been able to complete it previously.

Another change is that each mission now has hidden Heretical Idols that's set in random locations. Destroying them not only allows players to progress new penances but also has them obtain a small bonus of Plasteel.

Mission Type Changes

Players can also look forward to the change made to the Primary Objective of some missions. This is to better match the overarching objective. In addition, it also puts the amount of available missions for each type between 2 and 3. Here are some of the changes:

  • Excise Vault Spireside-13 changed from Raid to Investigation.
  • Ascension Riser 31 changed from Raid to Strike.
  • Smelter Complex HL-17-36 from Strike to Repair.

Hab Dreyko

The new update also introduces a new final objective along with a mission giver treatment when it comes to Hab Dreyko. The development team revealed in a post that they've always seen that the story of the sample collection, as well as the Phage Tree, in Hab Dreyko wasn't being told as well as it could have been. As a result, they revisited the experience.

Because of this, there's a now a new story that's being told by mission givers, which features some new characters like Sister Hestia Prine and representatives from both House Margrave and House Barquette. A new type of Interrogator has also been introduced known as a Biotic Probe. The Phage Tree area itself features some thematic, sound, and graphical updates.
