Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is rumored for a standalone Xbox One release this week, and new sales on the Microsoft Store further that speculation. The game’s Variety Map Pack DLC is currently on sale for $9.74 for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, roughly the same price as the original expansion when it first released in 2008.

This promotion is particularly interesting because it directly addresses one of the main complaints levied against the standalone Modern Warfare Remastered when it arrived on PS4 a month ago. Not only does the starting $39.99 price tag seem a bit steep to begin with, but the Variety Map Pack also sells for $14.99. In other words, fans were being asked to pay an extra $5 for DLC that’s almost a decade old. With this week-long sale, the latter gripe is essentially erased.

For those who forget what the Variety Map Pack contains, it’s got four multiplayer maps: Broadcast, Creek, Chinatown and Killhouse. Just like most of Modern Warfare, many of those spaces have since become iconic for longtime fans of the franchise. It would’ve been better for Raven Software to include them in Modern Warfare Remastered from the start, but getting them for a little cheaper than normal isn’t too bad either.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered originally released as a pack-in with premium editions of Infinite Warfare last year, and now that the well has run dry, Activision has decided to sell it as a standalone product. It features the exact same content as last year, including the full single-player campaign and vanilla multiplayer suite. During promotions, Raven has also been known to add exclusive maps and weapons, too.

Modern Warfare Remastered standalone came to PS4 in June, but platform exclusivity agreements with Sony likely barred the Xbox One and PC versions from releasing at that time. When the PS4 version was first revealed, Activision said releases for other platforms “will follow.” While PS4 and Xbox One standalones are known, we haven’t heard anything about PC yet. Considering the game’s already been made, we suspect we will soon.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is expected for a standalone Xbox One release July 27.
