Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is officially getting a standalone digital and physical PS4 release on June 27 for $39 . If the launch trailer is any indication, it appears Xbox One and PC versions are at least temporarily barred by Sony’s exclusivity agreement with Activision.

The retail package will feature the Modern Warfare single-player campaign fully remastered for current-gen consoles. In addition, players can expect the vanilla slate of 16 classic multiplayer maps including Wet Work, District, Vacant and more. Those who wish to play maps from the Variety Map Pack will have to buy them separately for $19.99.

With this imminent release announcement, however, there are still a few questions that need answering. For one, it’s unclear if current owners of Modern Warfare Remastered will still have to keep their Infinite Warfare discs inserted while playing. On the topic of exclusivity, we assume the title will eventually come to PC and Xbox One, but the publisher simply states an update on that situation “will follow” at a later date. Franchise DLC is typically PS4-exclusive for a month, so we’d imagine that a similar deal might be in play this time around.

On the bright side, those who decide to invest early will be able to take part in a special five-week event called Call Of Duty Days Of Summer. During the promotion, fans can expect “a bevy of in-game giveaways, XP events and new playlists across multiple titles.” This includes a new summer-themed map that will be playable through the duration of the event. The full details are expected to be announced on the game’s release date. So owners of all versions of the game, and other Call Of Duty titles, will be able to enjoy some of the perks.

This isn’t the first time Activision has leveraged Modern Warfare Remastered to promote a little seasonal fun. Back in March, Raven Software also held the Operation Shamrock event to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The proceedings offered special camos and a redesigned version of Downpour called Daybreak. We expect what’s on offer next week to be fairly similar.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was originally released as a pack-in with the Legacy and Deluxe editions of Call Of Duty. Infinite Warfare. The contents of both packages are essentially the same, but now players won’t have to purchase two games if Infinite Warfare’s space aesthetic doesn’t appeal to them.

Going forward, it will be interesting to see how Modern Warfare Remastered coexists alongside November’s Call Of Duty: WWII . Will Activision position the title in its second-pillar slot, like Black Ops III was advertised for most of this year? With a wider audience, will there be more DLC? Only time will tell.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered comes to PS4 as a standalone game on June 27.
