Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is all set to roll out its Beta Test this week. The first set of testing begins tomorrow, September 12. This testing follows the success of the Alpha test of Modern Warfare 2v2.

These different tests hope to give players and fans a preview of the maps and modes to be offered by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare before its official release. Qualified testers also get the chance to be the first to experience multiplayer action along with new gameplay mechanics.

The testing is going to be rolled out on what Activision calls Beta Weekends. Each "weekend" lasts for around five days beginning Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. and ending Monday morning. Here are the details of the Beta Weekends if you pre-ordered through retail:

  • Weekend 1
    • The first Beta Test Weekend is exclusive for PlayStation 4 owners.
    • The weekend starts September 12 and ends September 16
    • The first two days (September 12-13), early access is made available to those who pre-ordered the game on PlayStation 4.
    • Starting September 14, the Beta is going to be available to all PlayStation 4 owners.
  • Weekend 2
    • The second Beta Test Weekend is available to players on all platforms.
    • The weekend begins September 19 and ends September 23.
    • Early Access is available on the first two days (September 19-20).
      • PlayStation 4 owners can get early access without the need to pre-order.
      • Xbox One and PC owners need to pre-order in order to get early access.
    • Beginning September 23, the Open Beta period becomes accessible to all players.

    • Once you receive the Beta Code, you then need to download it.
      • For the PS4
        • Go to the PlayStation Store.
        • Select ‘Redeem Codes’.
        • Enter your Beta Code and the download begins.
      • For the Xbox One
        • Go to the Microsoft Store.
        • Select ‘Use a Code’.
        • Enter your Beta Code to begin the download.

        • Visit ‘Account Settings’.
        • Select the ‘Games & Codes’ tab then ‘Code Redemption’.
        • Download starts once you enter your Beta Code.

If you pre-ordered digitally then there is no need for any Beta Code, since the Beta is immediately ready for download. All that needs to be done is to visit your platform's store.

That said, enjoy the Beta Period. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to be officially released on October 25.
