Months after its release, gamers are continually finding new and interesting tidbits in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but this new glitch that was found actually allows Link to drop the legendary Master Sword.

Of course, the Master Sword is the most powerful weapon you can get in Breath of the Wild and you need to find a special area and complete a puzzle to unlock it. If you want to get the Master Sword, check out our guide to finding it. However, such a powerful weapon is worth all of the effort because it’s the only weapon that doesn’t break (instead it needs to recharge) and you can’t drop or throw it.

This new Breath of the Wild glitch does allow for the Master Sword to be dropped and what happens after is pretty interesting.

The Master Sword glitch was originally found by versat13, and you can watch the video in its entirety here but Nintendo Life did a great job dissecting what they actually did since the original video is in Japanese.

Take a look at the Master Sword glitch in Breath of the Wild below.

We recommend you saving before trying this glitch out, just in case the game crashes.

The glitch begins when you drop as many bows as you can on the screen. This will cause the game to not know what to do exactly and have enemies spawn new weapons.

This gamer figured out that this is a good way to duplicate weapons, including bows and arrows and other glitchy things like having Link appear with no torso when you pause the game.

However, what they probably didn’t expect was that they were able to duplicate the Master Sword and then drop it. This causes an animation to prompt that shows the Master Sword flying into the air and going back to the Korok Forest.

It’s not clear whether this was originally a feature in the final game or if it is a safeguard just in case a player did lose the Master Sword but getting to see the legendary weapon just shoot up into the sky is something to behold.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
