The upcoming online action RPG from Bandai Namco Blue Protocol recently had its closed alpha test over the weekend, running from July 26 to 28, and the first gameplay videos for it have already surfaced online. A total of five videos, showing an accumulated 60 minutes of gameplay can be viewed right now on VK. Check them out here.
So, what did we get from those 60 minutes? Well, we finally saw footage of Blue Protocol's gameplay, graphics, and we also had a sneak peek of its soundtrack. Blue Protocol features a third person perspective and anime-style visuals for its characters, but deviates from that a bit for its environment. As early as now, we can already see comments that compare its overall visual feel to that of Breath of the Wild.
For those who are not yet in the know, Blue Protocol is an upcoming RPG from publisher Bandai Namco and is developed by an in-house team dubbed Project Sky Blue, consisting of people from Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios.
Blue Protocol was initially announced almost a month ago with just a cryptic screenshot showing three mysterious characters against a mountainous backdrop along with the following description: “The world is on the brink of devastation, now is the time to unite. March on with friends and strangers, and defeat foes beyond your might. Travel through space and time, to change the future beyond this fight!”. After that, a slew of more updates released, such as the date for this current running alpha-test, screenshots of customization options and a couple of gameplay videos. We also got to know more about its character classes (four classes as of now, which include the Aegis Fighter, Twin Striker, Blast Archer, and Spell Caster).
Also, we finally got more information about the game’s plot line set on the planet Regnus, which was once ruled by divine beings that fed off a mystical light dubbed the Engram. Still, despite the recent avalanche of information provided to us, there’s a lot of speculation about whether Blue Protocol has the right elements to succeed in the MMORPG genre. Until then, let’s just enjoy all these videos and updates until Blue Protocol’s launch date.
