It has been exactly one week since we reported on Bandai Namco’s cryptic screenshot for their upcoming title Blue Protocol, and just as we expected, more information has come to light about the new and exciting role-playing game from the video game giant.

Blue Protocol's initial screenshot left many people wanting and provided little to no information about the game. Only a screenshot showing a collection of characters drawn in anime style against a realistic mountainous backdrop, and a mysterious tagline for the title was provide:

“The world is on the brink of devastation, now is the time to unite. March on with friends and strangers, and defeat foes beyond your might. Travel through space and time, to change the future beyond this fight!”

This time, however, Bandai Namco’s announcements included a debut trailer, new screenshots, and a brand-new website detailing information about the game.

Let's start with the trailer, which to be honest, left me in awe. Blue Protocol seems like a gorgeous game, boasting a huge world to discover, with colorful cities and towns you can settle in. It’s probably too early to say, but I’m guessing the floating rocks and mountains that dominate the world’s skyline may hold importance in relation to the story’s plot.

The official website has confirmed our assumptions from week ago: Blue Protocol will most likely be an MMORPG. Multiple classes are available and as it says on the official website, “Fight unique, band together”. A co-op element will certainly be present to fight and “fend off hordes of monsters alongside others with coordinated strikes”.

Character creation systems are included to customize your player, and it provides options to “control” graphics akin to an animated film. Does this mean we can choose effects for our characters’ skills and the like? We'll have to wait for more info on this.

As for the story, it focuses on Regnus, a planet once ruled by a divine tribe that lived off a mystical light called the “Engram” and was prosperously ruled by beings called the “Bapharian Divines”. Many millenia later, these divines have left Regnus for the heavens and the era of man began. This change brought forth an unknown power to destroy all civilization, called the “Planetary Beast.”

If that still doesn't excite you, a closed alpha test has also been announced featuring character creation and four playable classes (Aegis Fighter, Twin Striker, Blast Archer and Spell Caster). These test runs will last from July 26 to July 28 during specified times. Sign up and wish for luck on Blue Protocol's website here.
