The updated version of Blade of Darkness is making its way to PC through Steam and GOG. This is actually a re-release and has been updated for modern gaming PCs. The game was first released in 2001 and earned praise for its varied gameplay and unique combat mechanics. Players can continue to experience all of that with the updated version.

In the game, players choose from one of four characters. Each one offers different strengths, weaknesses, and skills. It goes without saying that by offering this classic title to modern PCs, players can expect more stable performance, new display settings, and of course, widescreen support of up to 4K resolution.

SNEG Managing Director Elena Roor shared in a statement that since it was first launched, the game has managed to build a dedicated following. Even today, community patches are still found in the gaming community. She went on to say that they are happy to sort everything out and recover the source code with the assistance of the original development team.

Key features of the game are:

  • Pick your Champion of Ianna
    • Players can choose from up to four playable characters:
      • Tukaram, the Barbarian
      • Naglfar, the Dwarf
      • Sargon, the Knight
      • Zoe, the Amazon
  • Bloody and Gory Combat
    • The game is not for the fainthearted as players must learn how to do combo attacks and slash their enemies to bits. After all, why look for a legendary sword when the femur of the opponent can do the same thing.
  • A Dark and Detailed Fantasy World
    • There’s a lot of enemies that are sure to keep players on their toes.
    • Enemies include battle orcs, trolls, golems, demons, and skeletons.
    • Players can meet these creatures while exploring treacherous tombs, frozen fortresses, demon spires, deserts, temples, and palaces.
  • Interactive Environments
    • Players can destroy in-game objects as they solve puzzles and disarm traps.
  • Modern Brutality
    • The game has been re-engineered to make sure that it shines on modern PC hardware and operating systems.
    • Longtime players have nothing to fear since the story and gameplay content remain untouched.

Blade of Darkness is arriving in October 2021.
