Arrow Season 6: Your Vigilante Theories Are Probably All Wrong

When Adrian Chase revealed himself as Prometheus, every Arrow fan’s jaw dropped. We thought we had it all figured out. Adrian Chase is supposed to be an anti-hero with the silliest-looking suit ever--Vigilante. At least that’s what the comics say. But in true DCTV fashion, the writers did a classic bait-and-switch. Vigilante's true identity remains a mystery, and after showrunner Marc Guggenheim insinuated the person behind the mask is a familiar face, we thought we had a shortlist.

Time to toss many of the names on that list in the garbage. Executive Producer Wendy Mericle said in a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes that Vigilante still hasn’t been cast yet. It appears it was only a stuntman behind the suit.

“We are super psyched about that character and about the stories that we have planned. He’ll definitely come back. We left that dangling deliberately in season five knowing that we would bring that character back in Season 6,” Mericle said. “He’ll have a really cool story line, not just in respect to the city, but also with respect to a particular member of the team. We’re intrigued and we’re kind of going through the casting process right now. We’re very excited about it.”

That means the Roy Harper theory is off the table, as well as Captain Lance. Those were our two frontrunners, so is it possible the writers mean someone we’ve heard about but never seen? Another list we made during Season 5 included characters like Helix agent Cayden James, the real Adrian Chase (since his original name was revealed as Simon Morrison) as well as Dorian Chase (Adrian had a brother in the comics).
