If you’re a fan of scrolling shooter games, then you’ll be happy to know that Andro Dunos II is now available on multiple platforms. This game should also bring that nostalgia factor to fans of old-school games considering that the first one was released way back in 1992. Talk about a long sequel.

A digital version of the game is now available on PC through Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. It’s also offered on Xbox One though there’s a delay in the release.

Those who prefer physical versions should be glad to know that they're being sold in a boxed form for Switch and PS4, as well as Nintendo 3DS and Dreamcast. The Switch and 3DS versions however are limited for now to the EU.

Special Promotions

Collectors have the chance to get their hands on a limited edition for Switch and PS4. It’s going to have a different cover, a certificate of authenticity, a numbered sticker, and a mysterious bonus to be revealed soon.

There’s also a limited-edition version that comes with unique key art and some goodies. It’s available exclusively on the PixelHeart store.

Andro Dunos II is a game where players get inside the cockpit of one of the most technologically advanced spaceships ever made. It has four weapons which can be changed depending on the current situation. Weapons can be upgraded by collecting pickups or in the end-level upgrade screen up to a maximum of seven. Players can take advantage of Missile and Shield pickups which can also be powered up to Level 7.

Each weapon builds up a charge when it is fired and unlocks the Hyper Shot. This is a move that can deliver a devastating blast to whatever gets in its way. The drawback is that it leaves the weapon weak and the ship vulnerable until it’s charged back up again.

The fight starts on Earth and players have to go through seven stages until they reach the edge of the galaxy and the secret base where the enemy waves come from.

Key features of the game include:

  • Flexible and efficient gameplay.
  • Recover power-ups by killing enemies.
  • Music composed by Allister Brimble (Alien Breed, Body Blows, Project-X, Colonization, Driver, Superfrog).
  • 3 different weapons, each with its own characteristics.
