Yakuza is a series that doesn’t get enough love, in my humble opinion. Looking back on its past titles, I am certain that you can label the series as “niche”, and you would not be wrong to do so. It compounds something so fundamentally different to how the Japanese make their games; this series has no problems going over the top with its wacky undertones and surprisingly hefty story, while keeping you wholly entertained with undoubtedly some of gaming’s best side quests and missions.

It was amazing to see the original Yakuza being ported to the PC, my platform of choice, and probably one of my most memorable gaming experiences last year was playing Yakuza 0 on the PC. It’s not my favorite in the series by a long shot, but the fact that you can get to play a Yakuza game on a graphically superior platform is amazing and is an experience in itself.

SEGA, however, doesn’t want to stop there. After porting both Yakuza Kiwami and it has now announced that the company will port Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PC as well. Steam is now taking pre-orders for the game, and there are also plenty of bonuses for doing so. All the game’s downloadable content will be made available from the start, with an exclusive “clan creator bundle”, different weapons and outfits, plus so much more.

In addition to this announcement, SEGA released a trailer to highlight its upcoming PC release.

Yakuza Kiwami 2, much like Yakuza Kiwami, is a remaster of the original Yakuza 2 game. Yakuza 2 was originally released in 2006, which was 13 years ago. This remaster and PC port, SEGA boasts, is "fully optimized for PC, including stunning 4K resolution and unlocked framerates, customizable controls and robust graphics options."

Kiwami 2 launched first in Japan on the PS4 back in 2017. It is now eyeing a release date of May 9 for PC and is available for pre-order at the Steam store for $30. Fans of the original should check into it now, purely for the sake of a revitalized tale between Kiryu and Goda’s rivalry, Kiryu and Sayama’s partnership and the overarching story of Osaka and Tokyo.
