It’s finally WWE 2K17 launch week and gamers across the country are hoping they can avoid a trip to their preferred video game retailer on Monday night, or the early hours of Tuesday morning, without sacrificing any time with the game. Naturally, everyone wants to know exactly when WWE 2K17 will be available to download (and play) on the PlayStation and Xbox Live.
We’ve already rounded up details on which stores will be open late on Monday night, or Tuesday morning (depending on where you live), to sell physical copies of WWE 2K17 . But that information doesn’t do much for those who don’t live near a major retail outlet, or mom and pop shop, hosting a midnight launch event for WWE 2K17. Fortunately, digital downloads are going to unlock much earlier this year, making PSN and Xbox Live acceptable alternatives for those relying on first-party marketplaces to get their copy of WWE 2K17.
WWE 2K17 Download Time - PlayStation Network
According to the WWE 2K17 listing on the PlayStation Store, this year’s addition to the WWE 2K franchise will unlock (for everyone) at 12 a.m EDT on Oct. 11 on the PlayStation Network. That means roughly 75 percent of the country will actually get to play WWE 2K17 on Monday night; as early as 9 p.m. on the West Coast. Pre-ordering the game from PSN also entitles players to a handful of additional items, including the Goldberg DLC, which bundles two playable versions of Bill Goldberg with two WCW arenas, a WWE 2K17 theme for the PS4 dashboard and MyPlayer Kickstart for WWE 2K16.

According to the WWE 2K17 page on the Xbox Store, the latest game from 2K and Yuke’s will also unlock (for everyone) at 12 a.m EDT on Oct. 11 on Xbox Live. The page doesn’t include any information on WWE 2K17 pre-order incentives; however, it’s safe to assume Xbox customers will at least be entitled to the same Goldberg DLC offered by Sony and a variety of retailers.
WWE 2K17 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game debuts Oct. 11.
