Here's some good news for fans of Werewolves Within, there's a big screen adaptation coming. For even better news, the upcoming film not only has a director, but also its first star. That's one more than Uncharted has!

So let's start with the director. At the helm of this project is going to be Josh Ruben. For those who may find the name familiar, Ruben is known for creating, and sometime starring in, comedic shorts for CollegeHumor. He has also directed some sketches for The Late Late Show with James Corden along with some episodes for The Green Beret's Guide to Surviving the Apocalypse, an upcoming series on Netflix.

For its star, the film version of the game is going to feature Sam Richardson. Richardson has previously appeared in Veep and has voiced characters in BoJack Horseman and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninjas Turtles. He is also going to star in Promising Young Woman, set to be released this April.

Meanwhile, the script will be written by screenwriter and bestselling author Mishna Wolff. Wolff managed to secure the deal as part of the Ubisoft Film & Television’s Women’s Film and Television Fellowship. As one of the first participants of the program, Wolff had access to open-door mentorship that included Ubisoft Film & Television’s top executives. The program also allowed her to use Ubisoft’s rather extensive library of IP as inspiration.

Werewolves Within is being produced by Jason Altman, Margaret Boykin, and Andrew Lieberman for Ubisoft Film & Television and Matt Miller, Natalie Metzger, and Benjamin Wiessner for Vanishing Angle.

No other details on the film were released.

Werewolves Within is a multiplayer VR game created for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR. It was released back in December of 2016. The game follows the story of a medieval-fantasy town, one that's being attacked by a werewolf. Werewolves Within has five to eight players taking on different roles and guessing which of the townsfolk is actually the werewolf. The game is not that straighforward, as in one game a player might the one trying to help the village get rid of the werewolf and in the next they could actually be the one everyone is looking for and must hide this fact to survive the vote.
