Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters has a new update that nerfs some Stratagems, most notably the Gate of Infinity.

For the uninitiated, Stratagems in Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters are one-use abilities that you can bring in your missions. That said, the Gate of Infinity is a Stratagem that teleports your entire squad to any visible location on the map and requires zero action points to use. This means that you can use it without worrying about your AP.

According to the devs, most players use this to turn challenging missions into trivial encounters. For example, when the boss of the area is revealed, all they have to do is use the Gate of Infinity to teleport right on top of the boss and kill it without a hassle. So, the dev team addressed this by nerfing it slightly in Update VII. Basically, Gate of Infinity now costs one AP per use.

The latest update also brings some gameplay improvements. One of the most notable is the new and improved combat HUD. Now, there are detailed icons with tooltips for the currently selected Knight. Besides that, new visual indicators to let you know which enemies or Grey Knights have status effects.

Here are the other things implemented in Update VII:

  • The Armor bonus provided by Defend Position (Paladin Ability) now consistently applies and remains until the end of the turn
  • Teleporting will now properly remove a Grey Knight from being under Suppressed fire
  • If you acquire Garran Crowe with a full Barracks he will now have a portrait in the pop-up
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to assign ability points to newly requisitioned Grey Knight from the Barracks
  • Extractor Servo-Skulls will now properly work on large units
  • Promethean Spray will now properly explode all Plasma Batteries in its area
  • All Biomancy upgrades will now properly be applied when using an Apothecarion Servo-Skull
  • Scattershot will now properly target enemies that have broken cover
  • Plague Marine Hazard Spray targeting and behavior have been improved
  • Plague Marines will now appear in larger groups earlier in the game
  • Significant improvements made that will affect all AI movement decisions
  • Enemies will now appear on the same side as a Warp Portal when it is near a wall or barrier
  • Enemies in the fog will now properly take damage from AOE attacks that hit them
  • Overwatch will now work properly when enemies come through doorways or are forced into the Overwatch area
