Good news for The Walking Dead comic fans! The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman wants AMC to bring The Whisperers to life. The bad news is you’ll be a waiting a bit long for that storyline.

Kirkman confirmed during a New York Comic Con 2016 panel dedicated to the comics that The Whisperers will make it onto the show after the Negan storyline.

"As long as we don't get cancelled, it should,” Kirkman said. “I can't wait to see Andrew Lincoln saying 'Now we gotta worry about the Whisperers'...I think about some dark stuff."

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we’ll see The Whisperers in The Walking Dea d Season 7. The show just introduced Negan and there’s a huge war to come in The Walking Dead universe first. So it’s more likely The Whisperers will come in The Walking Dead Season 8 or Season 9 if there is one. The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple told The Walking Dead TV panel audience there will be a Season 8.

Some of the things to look forward to in The Whisperers’ storyline are some weird romances, including one where Carl learns what sex is for the first time, some horrific deaths, and characters that make Negan look like a saint.

But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. First, let’s look forward to the rise of Maggie (if she lives) and a more diplomatic Rick. We need Rick to clear his head and remind himself that he’s creating a world for his son and daughter to live in. Rick doesn’t want his kids to live in fear of the living and the dead. He’ll get there, but unfortunately it’ll be through a lot of pain and suffering.

What are you looking forward to in the upcoming season? Do you think Rick can outsmart Negan and take back control of Alexandria? Let us know in the comments below. The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 23 on AMC.
