The second half of The Walking Dead Season 7 will be full of surprises, including a big betrayal. We have a feeling that betrayal will have to do with Negan and one of Rick’s allies. But who would be gutsy enough to go against Rick?

[Warning: The Walking Dead Season 7 spoilers ahead]

Negan tried to break Daryl and failed. However, Negan now has Eugene, the brains of Alexandria. Eugene is dealing with the loss of Abraham and the loss of faith from Rosita in The Walking Dead Season 7. Abraham and Rosita were Eugene’s only “friends.” No one else is really close to him, so why should Eugene remain loyal to Alexandria?

Think about it. Eugene is consistently put down by people in Alexandria. Someone is always using him, telling him he’s a coward and useless. It’s only when they need someone with “brains” do they praise Eugene. Negan will be able to spot Eugene’s weakness very quickly. It won’t take long for Negan to manipulate Eugene and make him feel important.

What if the person who betrays Rick ends up being Eugene? Lennie James, who plays Morgan on the show, recently teased during an interview with ComicBook.com someone will turn to the dark side The Walking Dead Season 7.

"On one level, it’s very obvious that we’re getting ready for war, and everyone who knows the comic books knows that we’re about to go into a couple of years of war," James told ComicBook.com. "I don’t know how long that’s going to pan out in the television series, but it goes on for a while in the comics. So we’re about to go to war, and the second block [of eight episodes] is about meeting the protagonists and certain events that are going to decide what sides people take. And it’s not going to be a clear division of labour, let me say."

James added, "There are some people who go to the dark side who are going to take you by surprise, and there are some people who are going to come over to the light – and that’s all a matter of perspective.”’

Eugene might be physically weak, but he’s smart. His intelligence is what helped him survive the apocalypse. What if Eugene becomes Negan’s new righthand man? That could mean a lot of trouble for Rick. The Walking Dead Season 7 returns to AMC on Feb. 12.
