Negan was too busy trying to break Rick in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere, sohe probably didn’t notice the enemy he made in Maggie. Don’t underestimate the last surviving Green; she’s ready for a fight.

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie in The Walking Dead, dished what’s next for her character during an interview Entertainment Weekly. Cohan revealed Maggie and Sasha will become closer than ever due to their grief. Both women will take their time to cope with the loss of Glenn and Abraham, but the two won’t let their deaths go unpunished.

“What Negan’s actions do to Maggie is light this crazy fuse. And we’ll see that burn pretty strong,” Cohan told EW. “I think it’s very Glenn that she gets up and insists on taking his body and she wants to protect him and give him a funeral that he deserves and that overcomes all the inhibition. And so Negan gives Maggie vengeance, and I don’t think that she’s a vengeful person, but It’s going to be a really interesting push and pull this season. You’ll see how she lives on in honor of Glenn and in vengeance of Negan, and it’s a real war in her brain, and in protection of the baby. I really liked the fact that Glenn says, ‘I’ll find you,’ because she takes him with her. It’s difficult to even encapsulate the grief like that.”

However, Maggie won’t act on her desire for vengeance right away. Maggie’s first priority is her unborn child. She must also deal with the fallout in Rick’s group. Cohan didn’t reveal her character’s feelings towards Rick after the Negan encounter, but she’s probably not too happy with the guy. Maggie’s going to need someone to blame for Glenn’s death. With Daryl being held prisoner in Negan’s Sanctuary, Rick easily becomes the scapegoat.

“There’s a lot of anger ahead in this road for the group and it’s a very complex season,” Cohan told EW. “This fallout now is so heavy. It’s really rich, and the places that we see everybody go, and the worlds everybody’s going into and how they’re all dealing with losing Glenn and Abraham — it’s the linchpin. I mean, there’s been so much loss to this point, and this is just the entire house of cards.”

Even if Rick tried to reason with Negan, there’s no guarantee the leader of the Saviors wouldn’t have killed one of their own. After all, one of Negan’s men tried to rob Sasha, Daryl and Abraham on their way back to Alexandria and threatened to kill one of them.
