Some The Walking Dead fans sure know how to reach when it comes to their theories. The latest rumor circulating online was picked up by fans who were closely watching Daryl Dixon during his brief visit to Alexandria with Negan.

Daryl was blinking a lot. Enough for some people on reddit to take notice. In a post titled “Was Daryl blinking in Morse Code?”, one redditor broke down Daryl’s alleged message to Rick:

HOLY SHIT I THINK HE SAYS "I EAST"...

First part before cutaway:

Dot. Dot. [I]

Then coming back:

Dot (fast) [E]

Dot (fast) Dash (long) [A]

Dot. Dot. Dot. [S]

Well, we wouldn’t put it past Rick and Daryl to have some secret code worked out, in case they ever got into some trouble. The redditors also say Rick was responding to Daryl by tapping Lucille. However, it seems a bit too subtle for even The Walking Dead .

Rick is pretty adamant about working with The Saviors. Even if a covert operation to bring Daryl back was successful, Negan would definitely retaliate and Rick does not have the army to take him down.

Also, if there was a plan in place to take down The Saviors, Rick would’ve definitely informed Michonne. In The Walking Dead Season 7 episode 4, Rick tried to get Michonne to work with The Saviors by revealing a heavy truth: he knows Judith is not his daughter. Andrew Lincoln explained to Entertainment Weekly why his character Rick was holding onto the secret and why he decided it was time to let it go.

“Well, it is, but it’s also a great secret,” Lincoln told EW . “It’s a great, great secret that he’s been holding on to for a long, long time. It’s also a very smart way of understanding why he’s behaving in this way, because he’s been behaving that way with regards to his child since the outbreak, since he got the news. There’s a scene with Lori where it’s almost touched upon — outside on the farm, there’s a scene where he makes peace with whatever’s gone down and that’s, I think, a key moment. He doesn’t voice it, but it’s there. It’s in the air.”

Seems like Rick is going out of his way to please The Saviors. Even if Daryl told Rick his location, there’s no way Rick can help him just yet. Do you believe the Morse Code theory? Let us know in the comments below. The Walking Dead Season 7 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
