Morgan broke his moral code at the end of The Walking Dead Season 6 finale to save Carol. Fans were happy to see the old Morgan, but it might not be a good thing for the character in The Walking Dead Season 7.
Lennie James was in attendance for The Walking Dead TV panel at New York Comic Con 2016. James was asked about his character Morgan’s mental state and how killing someone might’ve changed him. James reminded the audience Morgan didn’t just shoot the guy once, and that says a lot about the direction his character will go in Season 7.
"If you notice, at the end [of Season 6] when he shoots that Savior in order to save Carol, I think one bullet would have done it but he emptied the clip," James said. "Those people who are begging for Morgan to return to the killer, be careful what you wish for."
Morgan might’ve been in a zen place when he was traveling by himself, but Rick’s group has a way of making killers out of people . Just look what happened to The Saviors; Rick convinced his people murdering them in their sleep was the only way to take care of the threat.
What if Morgan saving Carol has nothing to do with her? What if Morgan sees himself in Carol and really is fighting against himself? Morgan might also be fighting his own inner demons that want him to give up, just like Carol. At least Carol is more open about her wish to die; Morgan might not want to accept that fate just yet.
Speaking of Carol, we’re still convinced she might not make in past The Walking Dead Season 7. Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick pointed out during The Walking Dead TV panel at NYCC 2016 Carol has always been a survivor and is used to adapting to tough situations. She knows when to put on the sweater or pull out a gun. We’ll see if she makes it out alive.
