Saying it’s a bad time to be Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead is a severe understatement. Not only has the guy made an enemy of Negan, but his own people blame him for his actions.
Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham, explained to Entertainment Weekly everyone is ready to point fingers in The Walking Dead Season 7. People are not happy with Rick, and the leader of Alexandria doesn’t blame them for feeling that way towards him.
“Oh, that’s probably the weakest moment for everyone. This whole group has made a series of terrible choices that culminate in this,” Cudlitz said. “I mean, a lot of people blame Rick for completely underestimating, and I think that Rick blames Rick, and we are in a completely helpless situation at this moment. And from there, it’s just sort of [let’s] see what can be done. Is there a moment when we’re going to be able to… because the show can’t end like this. I mean, there has to be at some point some fight back, some push back in some way with what happens after.”
We don’t blame people people for being angry at Rick. He was arrogant going into the situation with Negan. Rick didn’t try to get more information about him or try to reason with Negan like Morgan suggested. Let’s not forget Rick had his group MURDER people in their sleep. We saw Glenn kill his first human, something he had been able to avoid since the zombie apocalypse began.
The Walking Dead Season 7 will likely focus on Rick finding himself again and earning back the trust of his people. We wouldn’t be surprised if members of Alexandria left to join other communities or sided with Negan after seeing what happens when they trust Rick. It’s definitely Negan’s world now, and it’s not something Rick will take to lightly. Even with everything that happened, Rick stupidly threatened to kill Negan in front of everyone.
