If you thought Glenn’s death was brutal, wait until you see the leaked footage of Maggie getting the bat. The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere almost killed Maggie instead of Abraham.
The leaked footage of the alternative resolution to the Season 6 cliffhanger shows Negan picking Maggie as his Eeny Meeny Miny Mo victim. Glenn screams, begging Negan not to kill his wife. One of Negan’s men knocks him out. Negan then swings his bat at Maggie’s skull. At least in this timeline Glenn didn’t have to see his wife die. Unfortunately, Maggie wasn’t given the option. She looked on in horror as her husband tried to say his final words to her. Check out the video below to see Maggie get the bat.

We understand why AMC wouldn’t let the show go this route, after all beating a pregnant woman to death on cable television would be too much for viewers. The last time we’ve seen something terrible happen to a pregnant woman was during the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones Season 3. Lothar Frey, son of the treacherous Walder Frey, stabbed Robb Stark’s pregnant wife in the stomach multiple times.
Fortunately, Maggie is a key player in the war to come. Negan might have power over Rick now, but Maggie won’t let Glenn’s death go unpunished. We won’t be surprised if a power struggle happens between Rick and Maggie in The Walking Dead Season 7. It’s possible Maggie will rally people to fight Negan with her while Rick decides to lay low.
For now, Rick’s group will have to stay on Negan’s good side. They don’t know how far Negan’s reach extends and how many men he has under his thumb. Negan also is holding Daryl as a hostage. We can’t wait for Carol to find out and channel her inner Scarol to get him back.
