All 16 episodes of The Walking Dead Season 6 will be available at 3 a.m. EDT on Sept. 15. The big takeaway from this past season is the introduction of Negan , the infamous comic book villain fans have been waiting to see. However, Negan’s introduction means the death of a major character.
The Walking Dead Season 6 finale ended with a shot of Negan smashing a character’s skull with his baseball bat Lucille. Jeffrey Dean Morgan did a phenomenal job portraying the character in the Season 6 finale, but recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how tough it was to shoot the Season 7 premiere.
“It’s heavy, man. It’s a heavy deal,” Morgan told EW . “ It was heavy when we shot it last year and it’s only gotten more intense this year, I think. That first episode back was crazy. It was just crazy. What you’re asking of these actors to put it on the line like they do, and then this scene in particular, especially if they had the summer to dwell on it, it’s a lot. Then I go blowing in like a hurricane, just dance around on my tiptoes swinging Lucille around — it was 10 days of hell, I believe, for everyone involved.”
Speaking of Lucille, you’ll notice Negan has a special relationship with the baseball bat. He talks to Lucille as if she’s a person with feelings who can respond to her. Negan is especially vile when it comes to the way he “talks” about Lucille . In the comics, he even admits to being aroused by the baseball bat.
Yeah, Negan only gets weirder and more brutal from here. The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres on Oct. 23 on AMC.
