February 14 is known by most for Valentine’s Day, but for television fans around the world, the day of love may take a back seat to the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead. Now in season 6, TWD overcame a slow start to lead into a pulsating climatic finale before its annual halfway break. Now exactly one week from the arrival of new episodes, members of The Walking Dead’s cast are starting to tease what lies ahead for Rick and his band of survivors.

One of those cast members is Danai Gurira, who plays katana-wielding fan-favorite Michonne in the show. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gurira spoke out on what to expect when The Walking Dead returns next Sunday. Take a look at what she had to say:

“It’s so full of many different things. It’s a really full meal. There is an experience that they’re starting to go through that they’ve never experienced before, and it is new territory for them, though their response to it is based on a lot of what they’ve learnt in their past experiences. But they are stepping into newer territory than they realize. There’s also very specific character growth and experiences and arcs that are surprising — and I think very intriguing — that also occur in the midst of the larger arc, which is a very macro and ethic transformative experience for the group.”

“Full meal” is certainly a clever way to describe the upcoming return of The Walking Dead, but all jokes aside, it sounds like the remainder of season 6 will venture into some fascinating plot developments. One of the hallmark features of TWD is its penchant for character study, which, for better or worse, appears to feature heavily in the final portion of this season as well.

Recall the end of the midseason finale, where Rick, Carl, Michonne, Father Gabriel, Jessie and her sons Ron and Sam ventured out into a walker horde covered in zombie guts attempting to escape the breached town of Alexandria. Everything seemed to be going well until Sam, naive and sheltered from walkers all of his life, lost his cool and started to cry out - potentially attracting the sound-sensitive zombies surrounding them. For lack of better words, looks like a sh*tshow is about to go down.
