Massive changes are coming to Amazon Luna's cloud streaming service as the e-commerce platform has decided to end support for third-party games and subscriptions.
Amazon Luna Is Ending Support for Third-Party Games
According to a support page from Amazon, Luna's cloud streaming service is seeing various changes, including the end of support for third-party game purchases and subscriptions.
CNET reported that all third-party experiences are being removed from the platform, with Amazon focusing on a massive revamp soon.
Previously purchased third-party games will be streamable for Luna users until June 10, at which point they will be removed from the service. The games themselves are not gone for good.
Users who have previously purchased games from third-party stores through Luna will still be able to access those games on their respective stores, including EA app, Ubisoft Connect, and GOG Galaxy.
Additionally, Luna is removing support for the "Bring Your Own Library" feature, which is best known to help users stream games purchased from other platforms.
These changes affect users who had linked their accounts from EA, Ubisoft, and GOG to stream games directly through the service.
According to Amazon, users may also opt to download their third-party game's save data via this website, and it will be available for 90 days after the June 10 deadline.
Third-Party Subscriptions Also Disappearing from Luna
On the other hand, third-party subscription channels like Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games will no longer be sold through the Luna platform, with all active subscriptions to only be canceled until their next billing cycle.
Amazon says Luna is not going away entirely. In its email to users, Amazon stressed it is "doubling down on a broad range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles delivered in ways that make great games more accessible, as well as new and unique gaming experiences like GameNight."
The e-commerce company said that it will offer several users a free Amazon Luna Premium subscription as a thank you for their loyalty and patronage.
