Negan Robert Kirkman

You might hate Negan, but he’s going to stick around as long as The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has a use for him.

The Walking Dead creator recently held a New York Comic 2016 panel dedicated to the comic book fans. Right now, Rick is dealing with The Whispers after Negan went off and killed Alpha in the dumbest move ever. Or at least we believe it was dumb move. There’s really no telling what Negan’s end game is.

Anyway, Kirkman revealed during his NYCC 2016 panel he knows when Negan will die. In fact, Negan’s death would’ve come a lot sooner in the comics had Kirkman not liked the character as much as he did.

"When I run out of ideas for Negan, I'll just kill him,” Kirkman told to NYCC panel crowd. “Negan was supposed to die at the end of the Something to Fear arc. He was originally supposed to be in the book for only four or five issues....It was supposed to end when Maggie takes over the Hilltop. Rick was going to deliver Negan's head in a box to Maggie to say, 'I'm sorry.'"

We’re glad Kirkman decided to keep Negan around. Negan has developed a strange relationship to Rick. The villain serves as a reminder to Rick that he must never lose his humanity. Negan is an example of what happens when you let your desire to survive take over.

However, there’s always the possibility Rick will kill Negan in the show. AMC just released a new teaser shown during The Walking Dead TV panel on Saturday and it’s pretty intense. Rick threatens Negan after he kills one of his group members. Big mistake, Rick. Check out the teaser in the video above.

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 23 on AMC.
