It looks like players are about to be tested in the newest expansion of Train Sim World 2. Rush Hour puts players in the operator’s seat of commuter trains and tasks them to navigate the busy rail networks and meet tight schedules.

The expansion is slated to be released this summer on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. However, next-gen versions will come out at a later date with the expansion to be included with the base game.

New Routes

For this expansion, players are introduced to the new passenger system. There are three busy routes with a variety of passengers changing between stations. At peak times, players can expect higher passenger volumes. The three routes and trains are:

  • Northeast Corridor: Boston to Providence
    • Amtrak's ACS-64 "City Sprinter"
    • MBTA's F40PH-3
  • Brighton Main Line: London Victoria to Brighton
    • Southern's BR Class 377/4
    • Gatwick Express BR Class 387
  • Bahnstrecke Riesa to Dresden
    • DB BR 442 "Talent 2"

Upgraded Version

As previously mentioned, the game will arrive on next-gen consoles. In preparation for that release, the game is upgrading to Unreal Engine 4.26. Several new features focused on immersion are included, which would offer higher frame rates, faster load times, and improved visuals.

Dovetail Games announced in a post that the upgrades for the Long Island Railroad and Rapid Transit routes are now in the final stages of testing. These will be released after tests are completed. The studio did say that at present, they have removed the individual upgrades for Rapid Transit.
