It’s indeed the season for large updates, and Torchlight 3 isn’t that far behind. The game recently released the Snow & Steam update, which looks like its largest patch since the game was launched back in October. This new update brings some winter-themed content. It is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

With a name like Snow & Steam, it’s clear that the majority of the new content is themed to the season. There’s a limited-time “Snow & Steam” Contract, which offers a wide range of winter-themed pets and fort decorations.

Forged Rework

The biggest change with the new update is the rework on the Forged class. This is mainly due to the fact that Forged has been seen as the game’s least popular character. Because of this, there are new elements for the HUD. Both the new HUD and mechanic are designed based on increased movement speed.

There are also some skill reworks to accommodate “Steam.” This is a new resource for Forged that raises movement speed. It’s spent on basic attacks along with certain skills. Overall, it expands the capabilities of Forged and allows more versatile builds.

Here Come the Pets

Pet improvements are included in the new update. Five new pets are added with two new species and three variations. These are:

  • Frost Owl
  • Ugly Sweater Cat
  • Red-Nosed Retriever
  • Jolly Ferret
  • Reindeer

New pet skills are introduced in the game as well, which are:

  • Assemble!
  • Wet Kisses
  • Zoomies
  • Dasher
  • Land Mines

Style Station & Fort Updates

There’s going to be a Style Station that becomes available once players unlock their fort. With this, players should be able to transform their last-season duds into a new and fresh fashion statement. Plus, players can use a small amount of Gold to transform gear to appear as other items found on the frontier. Players can also get new styles and dyes by picking up gear.

The addition of Fort basements, meanwhile, should expand the player’s current setup. Players can now enjoy the extra space without the need to worry about putting everything on the top floor.
