Tekken 8 is set to bring the fight to the next generation with Unreal Engine 5. It’s available exclusively on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This upcoming addition to the Tekken franchise pushes the envelope of fighting games as it makes the most of the power offered by the latest generation of consoles.

Tekken 8 is designed to be one of the most visually stunning and immersive titles in the genre. A teaser for the game was first shown at the Tekken 7 tournament during EVO 2022. It was officially announced yesterday during Sony's State of Play presentation.

In this latest addition to the franchise, the story picks up after the battle which saw the defeat of Heihachi Mishima. It now focuses on the fight between father and son with Jin Kazama standing in defiance against Kazuya Mishima and his quest for world dominance.

In a statement, Bandai Namco Studios Chief Producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed that they’re excited to show what the next generation of Tekken can offer. He added that the team at Bandai has been working hard on groundbreaking new features for Tekken 8. He went on to say that this upcoming title pushes the feeling of power in battles by utilizing the technology in the latest generation of consoles.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco Europe CEO Arnaud Muller shared that Tekken , for more than 25 years, has meant so much in the uniqueness and innovation of the fighting genre. He said that this new game serves as the true continuation of this trend. Muller added that they’re excited to show the new features, characters, and stories.

The franchise began with the release of the first Tekken game in 1994. Originally released for arcades, it was then ported to PlayStation. The game was both a commercial and critical success. Excluding the upcoming title, the franchise has a total of 10 games. Tekken 7 was released on arcades in 2015 and then on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2017. This game was also a commercial success and received "generally favorable" reviews.
