Tekken 8 Introduces Tekken Shop in Latest Update; New Collab Launched

A new collab arrives! Bandai Namco

A new update has been released for Tekken 8 which introduces the Tekken Shop. This allows players to buy different customization items like costumes of legacy characters and even avatar skins of specific characters, to name a few. It's only paid items that are available as free ones can also be obtained from the Tekken Shop. Paid items in particular can be purchased using Tekken Coins that are available in each platform's store.

Bandai Namco mentioned that new content is planned to be added to the shop on a monthly basis.

New Collab

As a quick background, it was back in September 1994 when the first Tekken title came. That means the series is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To commemorate this rather big milestone, a new collaboration has been launched with UT. Dubbed as "UT x Tekken," collaboration T-shirts are going to be made available. They're free in the Tekken Shop but physical versions are to be sold at UNIQLO stores.

Items include customization items for playable characters, which offer 2 types, and avatar customization items, which has only 1 type.

New Patch

All of these features are introduced to the game courtesy of patch Ver.1.02.01. It brings with it changes to the game that include:

  • High ranking players who were reported multiple times and were found to have cheated were removed from the Leaderboard with their ranks reset to Beginner.
  • In Tekken Fight Lounge, the matchmaking waiting state now continues after finishing a match in Match Anywhere without needing to select it again.
  • In Tekken Fight Lounge, My Profile can be selected when accessing the customization shop's staff or terminal.
  • Status of members in a Group in Player Match is now displayed.
  • Maximum number of consecutive wins displayed increased from 99 to 999.

Bug fixes have also been introduced which are:

  • Fixed an issue in which some titles wouldn't unlock via Arcade Quest progression.
  • In Tekken Ball, fixed an issue where Panda and Leroy couldn't do a long back dash.
  • Fixed an issue where in certain instances a color unavailable in Character Customization was selectable when saved in Saved Colors.
  • During an online match, selecting Rematch and then the opponent declining would sometimes cause the game to become unresponsive for a certain amount of time, however this issue has been fixed.

Tekken 8 is now available for the PC through Steam along with the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
