Awesome, time-controlling shooter SUPERHOT is getting some DLC. Called MIND CONTROL DELETE, the DLC enters Early Access soon, but isn’t expected to release in full for another nine to 12 months.

According to the post on the SUPERHOT Steam page, the MIND CONTROL DELETE DLC will be a rogue-like, but retain the time-only-moves-when-you-move gameplay hook of the original. Players will complete a series of increasingly difficult levels and unlock new abilities and playable characters. There are also “secrets hidden to you by the system” that you’ll need to figure out.

Sounds good, but when can we start playing? An official date hasn’t been announced yet, but Early Access should start soon. We already know what will be included in the first public build: the first two playable characters, called MINDS, around 12 new levels, new weapons and new enemies. The developers explained that the DLC will have some missing features and potential bugs. So the first Early Access build won’t have any story, advanced power-ups, replay system, point system or hidden menu minigames. All of these things will come in future updates, though. One of the main reasons for an Early Access release is because SUPERHOT Team wants to work with the community to create a game people want to play.

“We're now over a year into the development of MIND CONTROL DELETE and we’re ready to invite you to join us on this adventure together again,” the team wrote. “The primary gameplay systems are here. A plan for the upcoming updates is in place. We can't wait to start working with you to guide the development and balance all of our radically cool new gameplay features.”

The best part about MIND CONTROL DELETE: it will be free to everyone who already owns a copy of SUPERHOT. The DLC is a stand-alone game, however, so it will be available for purchase separately for those that don’t own a copy of the base game. The development team anticipates the DLC will be priced around the same as SUPERHOT once officially released.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see the world of SUPERHOT continue to grow? Will you try MIND CONTROL DELETE in Early Access or wait for a full release? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
