A certified Nintendo classic, Super Mario Maker defied all expectations and was a genuinely good game, which was certainly not the case for most games that have relied on level makers to succeed in the past. Now, Nintendo is looking to follow up its success with the release of Super Mario Maker 2, which is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch this June.

In addition to this, and to the delight of Mario fans in the UK, Nintendo has announced some very sweet pre-order bonuses that come with the retail version of the game, making for a much better case to buy physical instead of digital.

There are two bundles: the first one, which costs £49.99, includes the retail copy of the game plus a free Carpenter’s Pad and Pencil set. This can help you with designing your own levels before you implement them into the game itself.

The second one, which costs £59.99, also includes the retail copy of the game plus a free diorama set exclusive on the Nintendo store. This is a good choice for players who are also into collecting anything Mario-related.

The Nintendo store also carries different dioramas for £19.99 each, if you want to pick up a digital copy, but still get the pre-order bonus.

Super Mario Maker 2 is the much-awaited sequel for the now defunct Wii U game. It adds new assets and elements to the first game in order to branch out its gameplay and allow for wackier and crazier levels. Super Mario Maker 2 will be available on the Nintendo Switch, and while its release date has not been yet confirmed, a recent Amazon UK listing states that the game will be in stock on June 12, 2019.

It is still not known if Nintendo Online is needed in order to connect and share maps online. As for the new stuff that’s been confirmed, Mario Maker 2 includes:

  • gusts of wind, which were introduced in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
  • snake blocks, from Super Mario 3D World
  • enemies from Super Mario 3D World (ant troopers, stingy bees and skipssqueaks)
  • and a whole lot more

Be sure to check back in for more news and information regarding Super Mario Maker 2 as it approaches its release date sometime in June.
