A new interview with a senior member of The Witcher 3: Blood And Wine art team offered a slightly clearer picture of what to expect from the game’s second expansion when it heads to PC and consoles later this year. And anyone who felt like the base game needed a bit more monster variety can enjoy the sweet feeling of vindication because it sounds like expanding the bestiary was a major priority for CD Projekt Red.

Of course, this isn’t the first we’ve heard about the game’s second (and probably final ) expansion. Last month, CDPR confirmed plans to release introduce new Gwent cards and give players a new explorable area roughly equal to the combined size of the islands of Skellige. Our latest update on the next Witcher 3 expansion comes courtesy of a new interview with The Witcher 3: Blood And Wine senior animator Jamie Bury, published by Pocket; the online spin-off of a popular Australian tv series focused on the video game industry.

According to Bury, players can expect to see all sorts of new creatures when the second Witcher 3 expansion makes its long-awaited debut. There’s no word on an exact count yet but giving the player some new faces to encounter out in the wild was apparently a big priority for CD Projekt Red. Sadly, that’s pretty much all Bury had to say on the subject before moving on to the subject of creating new art and animations for a game like The Witcher 3 . Interestingly, the game’s senior animator said the Continent has a major impact on the approach taken by the Witcher 3 art team.

“The tone of the world and the fancy world that Geralt lives in, these are really affecting the animation,” Bury told Pocket . “Especially with things like the community, when you have people walking around washing clothing, we need for the animation to make these characters feel like they are not happy. They are not having happy lives. They’re not living in nice palaces. They’re kind of miserable in everyday life.”
