In Scandal Season 5 episode 15, which airs at 9 p.m. EDT Thursday, Mellie Grant, Susan Ross and Hollis Doyle will go head-to-head in a presidential candidate debate.

The debate follows Hollis Doyle’s impromptu announcement that he’s running for president. After speaking with Mellie under the guise of donating money to her campaign in episode 14 , he stole her slogan and other aspects of her campaign to use as his own. Ever the hardened Republican, Doyle comes off as a Donald Trump type candidate, with a stringent stance on illegal immigration.

Olivia, who now appears to be officially running Mellie’s campaign, is working to get the debate set up in Mellie’s favor. Mellie is struggling to connect with voters. A focus group reveals that she does not relate with the general public and comes of as a know-it-all.

Susan Ross will find out that David Rosen, whom she thought was her boyfriend, is also seeing Elizabeth North. We know David began seeing Susan on instructions from Elizabeth to urge her to run for president. David continued seeing Susan after she announced her candidacy despite being more physically attracted to Elizabeth, but he has been torn between the two women as he likes Susan’s personality.

How will David respond to Susan’s cheating accusations? We will find out in the upcoming episode, called “Pencils Down,” which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live .

Meanwhile, Olivia’s team at Pope and Associates will learn some valuable information about Jake’s fiance, Vanessa. Olivia and Jake are once again hooking up but remain adversaries professionally.
