Season 3 of Stranger Things is set for release this July 4 and it will bring with it a new video game. Titled Stranger Things 3: The Game, the game makes use of 16-bit animation while utilizing current technology. This approach is not surprising considering that the latest season of the show is set in 1985, so it has that nostalgic feel.
This is not the first game about the series, as a mobile-only version was released in time for the second season.
For Stranger Things 3: The Game, there are 12 playable characters, each with their own unique skills in defeating Demogorgons. Players can also team up and fight together. The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Released in 2016, Stranger Things is a science fiction horror show created by the Duffer Brothers. The show is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The first season focuses on the mysterious disappearance of Will Byers. The whole town is in an uproar, and while Will's friends search for him, they encounter Eleven, a young girl possessing bizarre abilities. Season 2 takes place a year after the first season and focuses on the characters and their attempts to return things to normal.
For the upcoming season, the show is set in the summer of 1985 and will look into the mall culture of that time. According to David Harbour, who plays Chief Jim Hopper, the show takes inspiration from a number of films that were released in 1985. He goes on to say that fans of the show will need to look into what those films were.
Released exclusively on Netflix, Stranger Things has received wide acclaim with the first season getting a 96 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the second season with 94 percent. Along with Harbour, the show stars Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton. The first season had eight episode, with the second season giving viewers nine episodes. The upcoming season will have eight episodes, with Cary Elwes joining the cast.
