It’s no secret that PlayStation fans have been waiting for the PS Showcase for a while now. But their wait will be eased today.

The gaming giant announced yesterday that it will host a new State of Play today only. The SoP will only be around 20-minutes long and mostly focused on Japanese games.

State of Play

The stream will reveal gameplay footage of 10 games planned for PS4, PS5, and PS VR2; it will feature a handful of surprises as well. The show will go live at 6 p.m. EST to be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Possible Games

Sony didn’t reveal which games we can expect, and noting that they are all Japanese doesn’t exactly narrow it down. There are tons of upcoming Japanese games in development, with many exclusives.

The show could reveal Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth or Final Fantasy XVI . Capcom could reveal more about Resident Evil 4 Remake or Resident Evil Village Gold Edition. We could also see more of Exoprimal or Pragmata. There is a chance that none of them will be there, and the event will just focus on indie games. Though, I am sure many fans will be disappointed if that happens.

Sony could also show more information about God of War Ragnarok. I know that it’s not a Japanese game, but it is the only AAA first-party title coming this year to PlayStation. Sony needs to start its marketing campaign soon. Plus, fans have been starving for more gameplay footage.

PlayStation Showcase

PS5 users don’t have a lot of first-party exclusive games to look forward to. Other than GOW Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, and Wolverine, we don’t know what Sony’s studios are working on.

The publisher needs to hold a major showcase soon to reveal what other games they have in the works. For the last two years, the PlayStation Showcase took place in September. However, till now, we haven’t heard a word.

So what do you think? Are you excited about the upcoming State of Play? Which game are you looking forward to seeing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
