Multiple anonymous sources have told Star Wars News Net and Comicbook.com that there will be no Star Wars: Episode 8 The Last Jedi trailer aired during the Super Bowl.

The popular football exhibition is Feb. 5, with the two teams playing a game of points and yardage and stuff. It’s all a bit too complicated to explain here, but if this sport of “football” sounds intriguing you can check out the rules online.

With the release date for Star Wars: The Last Jedi less than 11 months away, a trailer or teaser must be imminent. Star Wars: The Force Awakens released its teaser over a year before its theatrical release date. By April of 2015, eight months before The Force Awakens’ Dec. 18 release date, two teaser trailers had been released. But while the timing would seem to argue for a Super Bowl teaser, multiple Star Wars journalists claim that the Super Bowl will be The Last Jedi-free:

The next most obvious opportunity for an Episode 8 trailer release would be Star Wars Celebration, which begins April 13 in Orlando. That seems late for our very first look, but it’s possible Disney doesn’t feel the need to build the hype as early now that their rebooted Star Wars series is so firmly established. Adam Driver, who will return as Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi , has proposed that there never be a trailer for Episode 8 . This, of course, will not happen.

But trailer or no trailer, we’ll be there Dec. 14 when Star Wars: The Last Jedi first screens in U.S. theaters.
