Heads up Captains! Star Trek Online is happy to announce that it’s bringing back Research and Development Weekend. Like similar events in the past, it offers bonuses to assist Captains to reach higher ranks. It starts today, March 4, and ends March 8.
Throughout the period, all Research and Development packs give an extra 25% of items that they currently disperse. Moreover, Queue R&D Material Reward Packages (Normal, Advanced, and Elite) also reward 25% more R&D Materials while offering players the chance to get a Catalyst.
Meanwhile, Captains that want to advance through R&D schools as fast as they want should look for Harvest Nodes, which are located in mission maps. Each time the nodes are used, they disperse two extra R&D Materials. That’s not all as they also reward 10 Dilithium Ore and a chance to hand out an R&D Catalyst.
If that’s not enough, all Captains that work on an R&D project during the event get rewarded with an extra 50% of the appropriate R&D School XP.
Junior Officer Weekend
In the same period, STO is offering players a chance to earn Bonus Commendation XP by simply finishing any Duty Officer assignments. In particular, players get a 50% increase in all Commendation XP earned.
Players also get a free special Purple quality duty officer that has a unique active roster power by speaking with their duty officer contact. For Starfleet officers and Romulan allies, it’s an engineering Exocomp duty officer. For KDF officers and Romulan allies, it’s a Reman duty officer.
So what else? Well, duty officer packs opened during the event get a free additional Green quality or better duty officer inside. This only applies to C-Store purchased packs, not to packs awarded during rank-up, from recruitment assignments to mini-packs. Besides, it applies only to packs opened during the event, even if they are purchased before the event.
