Nightmare makes his return in SoulCalibur VI BANDAI NAMCO

Bandai Namco revealed four new characters for the upcoming fighting game SoulCalibur VI, including three returning fighters and one brand new addition.

The latest additions to the roster include Nightmare, Kilik and Xianghua, all veterans of the franchise. The one newcomer is named Groh, who Bandai Namco describes as “the agent of black.”

Check out the new SoulCalibur VI trailer featuring the new additions below.

Nightmare’s addition to SoulCalibur VI’s roster was a no-brainer, as the character wields the Soul Edge, one of the two mythical weapons, alongside the Soul Calibur, that are the pillars of the franchise’s story. The menacing character brings back his signature broadsword skills, which he can wield using one or two hands giving him flexibility in fights and can be dangerous at a range.

From the way Groh speaks in the trailer, he seems to be an assassin. He wields two swords that he can combine to fight with a double-edged weapon. It’s not clear whether Groh can seamlessly switch between one and two weapons, but it does seem that way.

Kilik and Xianghua round out the new roster update with their unique fighting styles. Xianghua brings her dancing sword technique, where she wields her trusty blade with one hand and nimbly moves around the battlefield utilizing kicks, twirls and rolls to chain combos together.

The master of the bowstaff, Kilik utilizes quick strikes and sweeping attacks to fight both from close and afar. His moves are similar to past SoulCalibur games, but the new trailer suggests Kilik is corrupted by the Soul Edge, unleashing a massive power from within. It’ll likely be a part of the SoulCalibur VI story, which is a reboot of the first-ever game in the franchise, and we will have to wait and see.

SoulCalibur VI will release for PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2018.
